How does it work?

Using the feature, anything “saved” will reappear in the News Feed making it easier for readers to locate content they’ve saved and, perhaps most importantly, keep it in front of them. Facebook will also set reminders to make sure that users will remember the items they have flagged.

Opportunities for Brands:

For a consumer, the ultimate commodity is time, and for a business, space and the competition for the consumer’s time come at a premium. With Facebook’s “Save” feature, brands are offered a unique opportunity to capitalize on both space and time.

Short bites of content that immediately grab the consumer’s interest and prompt them to follow a link for additional information has become the standard and is a tried-and-true method.

I recommend brands include an engaging CTA when sharing embedded links that may be too long to read at first glance. CPG brands could use “Save” in connection with their “Save this Recipe” feature which could in turn promote higher traffic on their websites. While Entertainment brands could employ it to help users remember upcoming episodes or special promotions. Companies could also create posts specifically with the intent of engaging with consumers during their downtime. At this time, it is unclear if Facebook will consider “Save” as a form of engagement, but it will certainly afford additional consumers, who in the past may have skipped posts, the opportunity to interact. So go ahead, start using the Save feature today!
